Issues Related to ISDN

What Kind of ISDN Switch Types Your Product Supports?

We support NI1 and ATT types. However,  we designed to use this type to cover most of the switch types around the world, so it is absolutely possible for our customer to be able to use the default NI1 with other type of ISDN. Please try it out.

To change the switch type to att, you have to use the command line.

The command is:

set isdn switch att (or ni1)

save profile 1

reset

Enter these command from the "command line" found under the "Tools" menu of V-Express.

Tell me more about the Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation (DBA)?

DBA allows you to control the usage of the ISDN B channels.

To enable the DBA, go to the ISDN  folder under the Configuration  Profile and check the "Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation" option under the for the Auto Dial. You have to check the "Multi-PPP On", if you have 2 B channels, in order to user the B2 channel. Supply a value for the Idle Timeout. ISDN channel (or channels) will be disconnected after the channel (or channels) being idle for the Idle Timeout time.

Go to the Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation folder under the ISDN folder. Select the Minimum Active Link.

0 - If the ISDN B channel (s) are idle, all B channels will be disconnected after the idle time.

1 - All, but 1 channel will be disconnected. This means the B1 channel will remain connected forever.

2 - All 2 channels will remain connected.

High Bandwidth Usage Threshold: If traffic on a channel reaches this threshold, another channel will be added.

Low Bandwidth Usage Threshold: If traffic on the ISDN line reaches this threshold, a channel will be disconnected.

We recommend to keep the default values on this screen.

ISDN Multi-drop Issues

1, The V-Server has to be a terminating device

2, The V-Server has to be assigned a directory number.

3, The V-Server will check the directory number (both channels) before it answers the call.

How to Configure an ISDN Connection That Doesn't Require SPID?

Basically, ISDN with ST Interface (Most of Asia and European Countries)  doesn't require SPID. If the ISDN connection doesn't require a SPID, just leave the SPID field's default value as the SPID.

In some region (Like Hong Kong), the ISDN U interface also doesn't require the SPID. In this case, enter  "0" for the SPID fields.
