What Type of Interfaces are Supported on the Serial Port?
Currently, the serial port only supports Asynchronous connection only. We don't support any type of Synchronous connection, including V.35, V.11 and V.10.
How to Configure a Dial-up Connection Using the Configuration Wizard
You need an external modem connected to the "Serial" port with proper cable, in order to connected to the Internet using a dial-up service.
1, Choose "Console" and the COM port. Enter the user name and password.
2, choose the user's configuration, if available, otherwise choose the manufacturer's configuration
3, Give a name for your iGATE, choose router function "off" and "WAN" connection
4, choose "ASYNC"
5, choose your modem speed, enter your ISP information. You may check the "Automatically Disconnect" and enter a idle timeout value (like 10) if you wish the unit to be automatically disconnect when there is no data activity.
6, Choose "phone" or "Line" for the signaling protocol. If you choose "Phone" (FXS), you can connect a telephone directly to the "Phone" ports. Choosing "Line" (FXO) will enable you to connect the PSTN line to the iGATE.
7, choose manual configuration for the phone number and assign phone numbers for your iGATE phone 1 and Phone 2 port. write down these numbers. Choose "No" for the "Use H.323 Gatekeeper" option. (you can choose "yes" if you have a Gatekeeper). DDA is always a "yes".
8, enter the DDA IP address. configure the country code, area code, length of local number and local call dialing pattern.
9, Click finish. Wizard will automatically save the configuration for you.
If your PC had the dial-up connection before you configure the V-Server to the Dial-up service, you may need to configure a DNS (Domain Name Server) on your PC Network to be able to browse the Internet. To do that, go to the control panel of your PC and choose the "Network". Choose the Network Adapter (Your Ethernet card) from the list and click on the "Property" button. Choose the "DNS" folder and check "Enable DNS" and enter the IP address of the DNS server. Check with your ISP for the address. Click OK and restart your PC.
You may also need to reconfigure your mail setting, especially the "Connection" to "Local Area Network (LAN)" from the "Dial up".
