Detailed Procedure for Updating V-SERVER Loader and Firmware Using the Downloading Tool

The downloading tool that comes with the V-Express allows you to update the V-Server Loader and Firmware running inside the V-Server. If you haven't downloaded the V-Express from our website, please click here to download and install the V-Express first. The downloading tool will be installed automatically when you install the V-Express.
Also, in order to update the V-Server Loader and Firmware, you should already have downloaded newer version of the 2 software. If you haven't done so, please click here to download it now.

You should update the Loader software first and then update the firmware. The procedures for updating the 2 software are the same.

V-Server Loader and Firmware Update Procedure:

  1. Connect your V-Server to the PC COM port, turn off your V-Server. 
  2. Click the "VexpDownload" shortcut under the "TEK DigiTel V-Express" program group in the "Program" menu under the "Start" button on your PC desktop.
  3. A screen with 2 options will appear. Choose the first option and then click "Next".
  4. Supply the file name of the V-Server Loader or Firmware. You may click the 'Browser" button to locate the file. Click "Next"
  5. Select the COM port of your computer to which your V-Server is connected. Click "Next".
  6. Next screen will tell you to turn on the V-Server. 
  7. After you turn on the V-Server, a screen will tell you the progress. It may take a while for the download to be finished. If any errors happens during the download, please read the note followed by this procedure.
  8. After the download finished, close the Download Tool application and power off the V-Server.
  9. If the update is the firmware, you need to activate the new firmware using the Downloading Tool. The procedure is:

 

  1. Make sure the V-Server is turned off. Connect  the V-Server to the PC.
  2. Open the Downloading Tool (VexpDownload) program again.
  3. Choose the "Replace Current firmware with alternative one" option and click next.
  4. Choose the COM port
  5. Turn the V-Server on.
  6. Check the "Yes, Replace" option and click next.
  7. Click 'Finish" and turn off the V-Server.

Important Note: If errors occur at the beginning of the download or during the download or at the end of download (the error message may read "V-Server iGATE response error happened during download"), please do the following:

  1. Check the connection between the V-Server and the PC COM port. Make sure you have the right cable. Make sure you are using the right COM port and make sure there is no other device on your PC is currently using the port.
  2. Try it again or the 3rd time. In most cases, it will be OK on the second try.
  3. Check to see if you have an English version of Microsoft Windows. Windows other than English version known to cause download problem.

Detailed Procedure for Installing V-Express

Install from the CD-ROM version:

  1. Uninstall Previous Version of V-Express
  2. Insert the V-Express CD-ROM to your PC's CD-ROM driver
  3. Click on the Start Button on the bottom of the PC's desktop.
  4. Click "Run..." and type "d:\setup" in the "Open" box, click "OK".
  5. A Installshield Wizard will appear and guide you through the installation. Select the default directory for the V-Express and follow the instructions to install the V-Express.
  6. 3 shortcuts,  "V-Express" "Configuration Wizard" and "Downloading Tool"  will be added to the "Programs" under the "Start " Button.
  7. Now you can launch the V-Express by clicking on the shortcut under the "Programs".

Install from the file downloaded from our website:

  1. Uninstall Previous Version of V-Express
  2. Click here to download and extract the V-Express software from our website. You will get a setup.exe file.
  3. Locate the directory/folder you extracted the file and click on the setup.exe file.
  4. A Installshield Wizard will appear and guide you through the installation. Select the default directory for the V-Express and follow the instructions to install the V-Express.
  5. 3 shortcuts,  "V-Express" "Configuration Wizard" and "Downloading Tool"  will be added to the "Programs" under the "Start " Button.
  6. Now you can launch the V-Express by clicking on the shortcut under the "Programs".
