What's New in Release 3.0
Compare to the previous release, this version has many exciting new features and enhancement. Below are a list of new features and enhancements:
This version, with the support of DDA and CDR server, will enable user to build pre-paid calling card application. ITSPs who use the TEK DigiTel V-Server product and the DDA will be able to create various calling card rate plans and calling card accounts. The V-Server can be configured to play IVR to support the calling card application. Calling card user will be able to check their balance and account history on the web.
Note: If calling card support is enabled on the V-Server, user will not be able to make FXS call to another unit.
With this version, a new "set server" option command is introduced to eliminate the need of dialing prefixes (like the *0, *1 and *2 prefixes) before the phone number.
This version will support PPPoE protocol. This will enable user with cable or DSL connection with PPPoE to be able to make VoIP calls using the V-Server.
Note: Currently, the PPPoE is supported only on the V-Server Dual Ethernet.
This version of firmware has built-in Domain Name Server (DNS) client and also provides field for entering DNS address for the DDA. User also can ping and traceroute using the DNS address, instead of the IP address. It means now you can type "ping tekdigitel.com" from the command line.
This version provides DDA redundancy by introducing a secondary DDA. The secondary DDA will auto-sync with the primary DDA in almost real time and thus it will keep an exact copy of the database. The secondary DDA will take-over as soon as it detects the failure of the primary DDA. Users are required to manually configure the secondary DDA IP address or the DNS address in their V-Server.
With the introduction of the TEKVPN gateway, ITSPs now will be able to route all voice traffic generated from their V-Servers between point A to point B. Provided that you have a good connection between point A and point B, you will have better voice quality using the TEKVPN Gateways.
This version uses Simple Network Timing Protocol (SNTP) to provide very accurate time for the V-Server. Accurate and universal time is needed for the CDR report.
From this version, as part of the DDA, we will provide a web-based (Java Applet) tool for ITSPs to configure and manage their V-Servers remotely. Configuration server will offer the ITSPs a means to configure and manage units on group level or ITSP level. Configuration server will also provide easy software update options.
With the Configuration Server, we will offer ITSPs an easy and unified solution from taking customer order to activating the customer site units. With this solution, ITSP will be able to create a user profile on the Configuration Server upon receiving an order. When customer receives the unit, he or she will only need to configure the network connection of the unit and enter an activation code using the telephone set. All other configuration will be downloaded to the unit from the Configuration Server upon the activation.
With this version, the V-Server can be configured to support the CO interfaces of US, Japan and Telia (Sweden)
In this version, the accepted areacode for FXO port configuration is moved from the unit to DDA user profile. Also, the unit will not automatically accept its own areacode. In the DDA, up to 10 areacodes can be configured individually, or all the areacodes within the country can be served by entering "000" in the accepted areacode list.
For each accepted areacode, user can configure "add prefix and/or strip digits" options. User can add up to 6-digit long prefix in front of the phone number the V-Server will send out the the PSTN and/or strip up to 6 digits from the beginning of the phone number before the number is send out to the PSTN.
In this version, the DDA provides an software update option for the ITSPs. ITSP manages can update software on a group level. This option will perform the flash activation automatically and reset the units.
In-box DDA function is enhanced, so that user can user either an iGATE or iPRO (our new 4-port V-Server) as a DDA for any iGATE or iPRO units. “List Phonebook” option is also enhanced to display both iGATE and iPRO units in the phonebook. The in-box type of DDA has the capability to support up to 80 V-Servers no matter the number of their phone ports.
This feature is temporarily released for demo/field test only. The in-box DDA will not save any registration information to its non-volatile memory and for this reason, if user reset the unit or power down the unit, the registration information will be lost. In next official release 3.2.x, it will be enhanced sophisticatedly to be a special add-on software option that needs to be purchased and then enabled by a software key.
With this version, H.323 phone number formats (registration number format, dialout number format and receive format) can be configured to virtually support any format combination.
